Wear Red

If you were in worship on Sunday, you heard Sharon Harris tell the children to wear red (or orange or yellow) this Sunday. Why? Because Sunday is the celebration of Pentecost, my FAVORITE holiday!! While it can’t compare to the peace of Christmas or the bold joy of Easter, Pentecost has a wonder and mystery unto itself.

Originally, Pentecost was a Jewish celebration of the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses, but during the Pentecost celebration after the first Easter, another miracle happened. The Holy Spirit was given to the believers and the world has never been the same.

Have you ever…

  • Had a prayer answered?
  • Known someone miraculously healed?
  • Been forgiven for something by someone who you never thought would forgive you?
  • Heard someone clearly gifted at teaching, preaching, or wise beyond their years?
  • Had someone speak to you in a way that lifted you up or persuaded you to do something differently?
  • Do you know someone so generous that you question how its possible?
  • Do you know someone who consistently has foresight into what’s next?

If so, then you can thank the Holy Spirit. Be there on Sunday wearing red (or orange or yellow) and celebrate this gift of God that manifests in each of us in different ways. Learn what we can do next because of this gift given so long ago and be prepared….your life and the world will change if you simply receive it.
