Amazing Grace

Last week, Pastor Shannon taught us about the Gift of the Holy Spirit. At Jesus’ command, the disciples waited for this extraordinary Gift before venturing out into the world to spread the Good News.

The Holy Spirit transforms our lives. It guides and directs us on our quest to share the Kingdom of God with others.

And what we long to share is another Gift that is the very foundation of our faith: God’s Grace – the unmerited, unearned favor of God. God’s forgiveness, salvation and love!

There’s a song about how amazing this is, and it’s called “Amazing Grace.”

This week, I’ll share some fun facts about the song. We’ll talk about the power of the words of the song. We’ll look at some examples of God’s grace – from the Bible, from more recent history, and from everyday life.

We Christians often take God’s amazing grace for granted. After all, we received this grace when we accepted Jesus as our savior. But we receive that grace over and over and over again. Every day, every hour! Like the men walking on the road to Emmaus after the Resurrection, we need to have our eyes open to see that the living Jesus is walking right beside us!

I will also share with you how amazing and seemingly impossible things can be accomplished by one person, two people, 12 people — with God’s help. Are we willing and able to rise up to the task required?

Teaser copy: A special treat will include hearing, via video, a beautiful voice from the past. I know you’ll love it!

I hope to see you on Sunday. And invite a friend or family member to join you – as an invitation to a relationship with Jesus!

In Christ’s Love,

Sharon Harris
