It’s what you say…

Have you ever heard the saying, ‘It’s not what you say, but how you say it’? The challenge with online communication is that we can’t hear the tone or intent behind someone’s words. Instead, we often project our own emotions, opinions, and insecurities onto their posts. This creates a slippery slope, leading to misunderstandings, judgment, and a breakdown in communication as we struggle to truly connect and understand one another

For example, here a just a few comments on some of the sermon clips we post online:

  • @Funnylaughs21: Hi Pastor Sharon, do you realize what the Bible says about women leading a church you know like biblically
  • @Art Vandelay: pastor?
  • @Jimmy B: This isn’t the entire correct biblical definition of “saved”. Kjv
  • @ParanormalJack: I suffer not a woman to teach – 1Timothy 2:12.
  • @Rene Carlson945: Lot of Words but I’m having a hard time lining it up to the scripture that I have studied 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
  • @John: A lotta buzzwords and none of them were scripture.
  • @UncleMatt: Wrong
  • @MasterYoda946: 1st Timothy 2:12
  • @chesterWilliam Reed: get these women out of the pulpits
  • @Conservativemedic: Of course this is a UMC. This is why so many churches are leaving it.
  • @Alemanni: is it not written that women should be silent in the church?
  • @Amber: 😂 she lost me at ” pastor “🤣
  • @theman0230: Not biblically qualified

Those aren’t easy for me to read. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how you say it. The fact that it was said hurts. How do I read these and remain calm? How are we supposed to read anything on the internet and have a peace that passes understanding?

Sunday we will continue with our sermon series, “What the Tech?” We will look at how to use technology for good so that we can have integrity both in person and online. Invite your friends and join us for a series that is more timely than ever!

P.S. – Have you been praying “Holy Spirit draw near” each time you picked up your phone?

See you Sunday at 11AM at Trinity United Methodist Church 814 West Avenue, Cartersville, Georgia.
