Make Every Invite Count

Inviting someone to church can feel huge. Nerve-wracking. Or even… a little awkward. But here’s the wild part: your invitation just might spark a transformation, bring a neighbor hope, or help someone finally find their place and purpose. And the stats back that up!

Why Church Invitations Matter

  • 67 percent of Americans say a personal invitation from a family member or friend would be effective in getting them to visit a church.
  • Over 80 percent of regular churchgoers first attended because someone simply invited them. That’s right. A real, live human who cared enough to reach out.
  • And get this—even in 2025, most unchurched people say they would come if invited.

That means your text, your “Hey, want to join us this Sunday?” matters more than you think.

Proven Strategies That Work

  • Start personal. You don’t need scripts. Just be you. Share what Trinity United Methodist Church means to you and why it’s made a difference in your life.
  • Follow up. Invitations aren’t “one and done.” Most people need more than one invite before they say “yes.” (Research shows it sometimes takes 3-5 asks!)
  • Include the kids. Families are looking for community. Highlight our children’s and youth programs. Many parents’ first step back into faith comes through their kids.
  • Send a quick video. Most folks respond better to a friendly face than to a flyer.
  • Make use of big moments. Easter, Christmas, new sermon series, blessing of the backpacks Sunday, and even volunteer drives are perfect hooks for an invite.
  • Engage digitally. A simple DM or text message is often all it takes. We’re talking about Bartow County—we’re all connected, right?

Fast Facts That Inspire Action

  • Two out of three people you know don’t attend church regularly.
  • Seventy to eighty percent of first-time guests found their way to church because someone they trust cared enough to invite them.
  • Churches that actively encourage invitation have up to 30 percent more growth than those that don’t.

What This Means for Trinity

Every time you reach out, you’re powering up faith in action. Lives get changed. Community gets stronger. And that “awkward” invite? Maybe it’s just the first step in someone’s brand new story.

Don’t overthink it. Invite someone this week. Trinity’s big enough for everyone.

We thrive together. Faith in action starts now.

Got a neighbor, coworker, or friend in mind? Text them. Today. Your invitation = community transformation. Let’s go!

P.S. – We’re starting a simple weekly Zoom call to pray together for friends and neighbors in Cartersville and Bartow County that we’d love to invite into our church community, and for our own hearts to stay open to how God might be nudging us to connect with others. If you can’t join us, set an alarm or reminder every Tuesday at 9:00 AM and/or PM and stop to pray wherever you are. We firmly believe that God hears our prayers!
