Gardens of Life: Garden of Creation

Saturday, April 18, 2026

From the beginning of Scripture, humanity's primary purpose is to tend a garden as stewards of creation. Yet our environmental track record reveals a troubling reality: climate change, biodiversity loss, and widespread pollution demonstrate we're failing in our stewardship role. The ancient Hawaiian Ahupua'a system offers a powerful model of sustainable living, where communities managed resources from mountain peaks to ocean reefs through spiritual covenant with the land. When Western systems replaced this indigenous wisdom with private property concepts, it separated people from their responsibility to creation. However, we have the power to choose restoration over destruction. As co-creators with Christ, we're called to examine our relationship with creation and work collectively to heal the land God has entrusted to our care.
