Feasts of the Bible

What Are You Listening For?

What gets your attention first?

In a world full of noise, distraction, and constant urgency, the Feast of Trumpets invites us to pause and listen for the voice of God. The biblical Feast of Trumpets is more than a ritual from the Old Testament. It is a sacred call to wake up, return our hearts to God, and prepare for what God is doing next. The Feast of Trumpets is all about holy interruption. Trumpets in Scripture were used to gather the people, announce something important, and call the community into awareness. They signaled that it was time to pay attention. Time to remember. Time to respond.

That message still speaks today.

Faith is not only about comfort, but also about awakening. God continues to call people back to lives of justice, mercy, worship, and renewed purpose. Our purpose is a faith rooted in grace, but grace always leads somewhere. It stirs us to reflect, to repent, to love our neighbors more fully, and to live as people being transformed. The call of God is never just about private belief. It is about renewed hearts and renewed lives that bear witness in the world.

Challenge This Week:

This week offers an opportunity to reflect on the ways God still calls to us, sometimes gently and sometimes like a trumpet blast we cannot ignore. However it comes, God’s invitation is the same: wake up, draw near, and be ready. There is good news in that call. God never calls us back in shame, but in love. Again and again, God gathers, restores, and leads forward.
