Adventures with Purpose
This coming Sunday we will reflect on Luke 2:41-52. This passage recounts the story of young Jesus staying behind in the temple while His parents, Mary and Joseph, travel back home after the Passover festival. It’s a story that’s not just a historical account but a profound lesson for us today.
Trust and Wisdom
Now, picture this—Mary and Joseph are on their way home, thinking Jesus is with them, only to realize a day later that He’s missing. Panic sets in, and they rush back to Jerusalem, searching for Him. When they finally find Jesus in the temple, He’s sitting among the teachers, listening and asking questions. Mary, understandably worried, asks Jesus why He stayed behind. His response: “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
This moment is packed with meaning. Jesus’ calm and composed reply highlights a deeper understanding of His purpose and identity. It also points to the concept of growth in wisdom and favor with God and man, emphasizing the importance of seeking wisdom and trusting in God’s plan.
Trusting in God Today
Fast forward to our lives today. Just like Mary and Joseph had to trust in finding Jesus, we are called to trust God in our own journeys. It’s not always easy, especially when life throws uncertainties our way. But remember, just as Jesus was found in His Father’s house, we too can find guidance and wisdom through scripture and prayer.
