Hosanna means: God save us! It’s what the crowds shouted to Jesus as he rode a donkey into the city of Jerusalem for the week of Passover. The crowds LOVED Jesus. They loved his teachings and the ideas he stood for but they didn’t fully comprehend what they were being saved from.
We don’t always understand either. Even the most self aware of us don’t comprehend the full breadth and depth of God’s great love for us. It is precisely this love that makes us God’s handiwork. The love God has for you is so deep and so wide that it makes us say, “Hosanna” as well.
The concept of Jesus saving us is not just a religious belief, but an ultimate demonstration of unconditional and boundless love. Throughout history, we have seen countless examples of people sacrificing everything for love – whether it be for their family, friends, or significant other. And yet, the greatest example of love can be found in the story of Jesus Christ. He endured unimaginable suffering and pain, all for the sake of saving us from our sins.
His selfless act serves as a reminder that no matter what we do or how far we stray, there will always be someone who loves us enough to save us from ourselves. Jesus’ love knows no boundaries and his sacrifice serves as a testament to the limitless depth of his love for humanity.
I look forward to Sunday, when we can shout, “Hosanna!” together.
Until Everyone Hears,
