#HolyMischief is more than just a hashtag – it’s an opportunity to spread joy and share something meaningful with friends or strangers. It seems that the more kindness we show towards others, the more connected we feel towards them. So when we get stuck in cycles of negativity, or feeling like the world is against us, or feeling like everyone around us is getting on our last nerve, we’re well served by serving somebody else through an act of kindness.
Acts of kindness are not only beneficial for those receiving them, but also for the ones performing them. Research has shown that engaging in acts of kindness can have a positive impact on our mental and physical well-being. Kindness releases feel-good hormones such as oxytocin and endorphins, which can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It also strengthens our relationships and connections with others, leading to increased feelings of happiness and fulfillment. Additionally, performing acts of kindness can boost our self-esteem and sense of purpose as we contribute to making the world a better place. It is clear that by spreading kindness, we not only make others happy but also improve our own well-being in the process.
But wait…there’s more! You can find the Biblical mandate for this in Leviticus. What?!? Leviticus you say? Isn’t that the book that talks about what you can eat and not eat? Doesn’t it go into detail about the types of offerings and how to perform those rituals? Yes…but it also talks about moral purity and how loving our neighbor connects us with God more than we realize.
I hope to see you Sunday as we dig into part two of this series. It will be meaningful and fun and there may even be some #HolyMischief in the room!
