Do you ever wish you had one more hour with someone? Just thinking about it reminds you of how you felt each time you were with them. I wish I had one more hour with Dennis Jones and Goff McMahon. I’d ask them to tell me their stories and I would just listen. Each of them always made me laugh but they also often surprised me with their insight and taught me things about life that I didn’t realize I was missing.
We’re just days away from a truly special occasion—All Saints Day. It’s that time of year when we come together to honor the remarkable lives of saints who have gone before us, and to draw inspiration from their incredible faith journeys.
Did you know that All Saints Day has roots dating back to the 4th century? Originally, it was celebrated on different dates across regions, but by the 9th century, November 1st was chosen to unite the church in honoring every known and unknown saint. This day is all about remembering those who’ve lived and died for their faith, their lives reflecting Christ’s love in extraordinary ways. Some saints might be the well-known figures we’ve heard about in sermons, while others are the quiet heroes who’ve touched lives without fanfare.
This Sunday, we’re looking forward to celebrating together as a congregation. We will light candles to remember those who have left us since our last All Saint’s Day service.
Get ready to be inspired and uplifted. Let’s come together to reflect on these lives of faith, renewing our own commitment to live out our callings with joy and purpose.
Until Everyone Hears,
P.S. – We will also be in week 3 of our sermon series “More” with a focus on stewardship. I hope you’ll invite your friends!
