Confronting Controversy

You probably have a New Year’s Resolution. Or you may have a goal set for the month, quarter, or year. We all think about improving ourselves but we can’t do that without doing hard things. If it was easy, we would have already done it. Doing hard things is how we grow and move forward. The same is true with our faith and in our church.

Our next sermon series of the new year is Confronting Controversy. We will look at topics such as women in ministry, the death penalty, creation vs evolution, homosexuality and AI. Topics that often create controversy but we will approach in a way that helps us understand why the topic is controversial and to give you language when these topics come up. The series isn’t about changing your mind or asking you to change someone else’s mind. The series should give you talking points to have deeper discussions with people who hold different viewpoints. The hope is that in confronting controversy, we can take the controversy out of our conversations in the future.

Together, we can grow deeper in our faith and understanding, fostering unity even amidst our differences.
